There are no direct flights from the USA, Canada, Europe or South America to the airport. All flights must connect through another Caribbean airport such as San Juan, St Thomas, Antigua, St Kitts or St Maarten/St Martin. Tortola's Beef Island airport will not accommodate major jets, only 70-80 seat turboprops and small jets. Note: the airport is also known as Terrence B Lettsome Airport.

The airport is located on Beef Island, a cay that is linked to Tortola by the Queen Elizabeth II Bridge.

Water: The North Sound Express (tel: 495 2271) connects the airport (at nearby Trellis Bay dock) to Virgin Gorda (book at least four hours ahead). There is also a free ferry to Marina Cay.
