Location
The airport is located on the northwest coast of the island, just beyond the northern outskirts of Montego Bay, 2km (1.2 miles) from the city centre.
Airport News
A comprehensive expansion and renovation project started at Sangster International Airport in 2003 and is scheduled for completion in 2008. The airport terminal, which is the main gateway for Jamaica, will be restructured and expanded, and as well as a new retail and commercial area, are being built. The departure and ticketing halls will be completely renovated, and the parking areas are set to be improved as well. A new customs area and ground transportation hall for arriving passengers were opened in January 2007.
Driving Directions
The airport is located very close to the city, which is quite small, so there is no danger of getting lost trying to find the airport. From the city centre, just follow The Queen's Drive northwards and then take the airport exit. It is also possible to take Gloucester Avenue and then Sunset Boulevard all the way to the airport.
Car Parking
The drop-off and pick-up zone is located directly outside the main terminal building. All short-term and long-term car parking is accommodated in the public car park outside of the terminal.
Car Hire
Avis, Budget, Hertz and Thrifty all have offices at the airport. One local car hire company, Island Car Rental is represented.

Road: Shuttle: Hotel shuttles too are located in the ground transportation arrivals hall outside the customs area. Some hotels organise shuttles for their guests and have their own lounges in the ground transportation area.
Taxi: There are two taxi companies at the airport, JUTA Taxi (tel: 952 0309) and JCAL Taxi (tel: 979 1822), and they share the taxi desk that is located in the ground transportation arrivals hall just outside the customs exit.
Information and Help Desks
There are several information counters (tel: 952 3124 or 952 2712) in the terminal, in the ticketing concourse, departure lounge, ground transportation hall and arrivals public area. In addition, there is a visitor information service provided by the Jamaica Tourist Board in the immigration hall.

Money and communications: There are currency exchange offices (tel: 979 2673) in the departure lounge, immigration hall and ground transportation hall. Postal services and boxes are located in the Extra Extra shop (tel: 971 8872) in the ticketing concourse. Internet access, photocopying and fax machines are available at the E-island kiosk (tel: 940 0977) in the departure lobby.
Eating and drinking: There are several restaurants, cafes and bars at the airport. Some of the restaurants offer casual dining, including Jamaican and tropically-themed options. There are also several bars offering hot and cold drinks and smaller meals and snacks, as well as kiosks selling pizza, ice cream, yoghurt and snacks.
Shopping: The shopping opportunities are plentiful at the airport. There are duty-free shops, designer brand outlets, shops selling local specialities, a bookshop, music shops and stores selling everything from cigars to food products to jewellery and cosmetics.
Luggage: The airport's lost-and-found service (tel: 971 2726) is located at the security centre in the arrivals public area.
Other facilities: Baby changing facilities are available in the restrooms in the departures and arrivals concourses. A health office (tel: 952 2013) is located in the immigration hall. The airport police station (tel: 952 2241) can be found in the arrivals public area.
Conference and Business Facilities
There are no conference facilities as such at the airport, but there are three airline lounges as well as a VIP lounge available. Internet access, photocopying and fax machines are available at the E-island kiosk (see above) in the departure lobby.
Facilities for Disabled Travellers
All the toilets in the terminal are accessible to wheelchair users. Wheelchair assistance is available at the airline counters (tel: 952 2013) in the immigration hall. The ongoing expansion and redevelopment of the terminal is expected to improve accessibility.
