The airport is located in the Silver Port province, 18km (11 miles) to the east of Puerto Plata.

To get to the airport from Puerto Plata, take Hwy-5 towards the west and follow the signs to the airport. The driving distance is about 18km (11 miles).

Both short-term and long-term parking is available at the airport. There are parking spaces reserved for disabled travellers.

Car hire is available at the airport. Companies represented include Alamo, Avis, Budget, Europcar and Hertz.

Road: Bus: Buses and minibuses run frequently between the airport and the city.
Taxi: Taxi services to any destination on the island are available from outside the terminal building.

An information desk is located on the first level of the terminal building. A tourist help desk can be found at the entrance to the arrivals area in the terminal.

Money and communications: A bank, a bureau de change, ATMs and a post office are available in the terminal.
Eating and drinking: There are restaurants, fast food outlets and bars serving snacks and hot and cold drinks.
Shopping: Retail outlets include a souvenir shop, a news agent selling newspapers, magazines and books and duty-free shops selling tobacco, alcohol, perfumes, cosmetics, toiletries, accessories, electronic items, jewellery, toys and much more.
Luggage: Luggage trolleys are provided free of charge. The lost and found service is handled by the terminal administration. It is located on the second level.
Other facilities: The airport has a first aid room to deal with minor emergencies.

There are two VIP lounges at the airport.

Accessibility is quite good. Assistance is offered to travellers with disabilities, wheelchairs are available, and there are toilets for wheelchair users in the terminal building. The four parking spaces closest to the terminal building are reserved for disabled people.

There are no hotels at the airport. Hotel El Colibri (tel: 571 1847), Casa Marina Reef (tel: 571 353) and Casa Marina Beach (tel: 571 3690) are all lcoated in Sosúa, 10 minutes from Puerto Plata Airport.
