The airport is located at Dum Dum, 18km (11 miles) to the northeast of Kolkata.

There is no covered walkway between the terminals.

To get to the city from the airport, take the Jessore Road towards the south first and then the Belgachhiya Road and follow signs to the city. The distance is about 18km (11 miles).

The two parking lots have 250 parking spaces each. Both short-term and long-term parking is available.

Car hire counters are located in the arrivals area. Avis, along with several local car hire companies, offers car hire at the airport.

Rail: Train: The city's circular railway operates between Dum Dum station near the airport and Princep Ghat near Strand Road. Trains run every 15 minutes during peak hours and hourly at other times.
Metro: The Metro Railway runs between Dum Dum near the airport and the city centre every 10-15 minutes from early morning until around 2200 in the evening. Buses go via the Dum Dum train and metro stations.
Road: Bus: Buses between the airport and the city centre run every 10-15 minutes from early morning until around 2200 in the evening.
Taxi: Taxis are available outside the terminals. Pre-paid taxis can be booked from a counter in the arrivals area.

Information desks are available in both terminals.

Money and communications: There are banks and bureaux de change in the terminals. A post office is also available.
Eating and drinking: There are restaurants, cafes and snack bars in both terminal buildings.
Shopping: There are duty-free shops and newsagents in both terminals. Gift shops selling handicraft items are available in the international terminal.
Luggage:.Luggage trolleys are available free of charge. Queries about lost luggage can be directed to the information desk in the arrivals hall or to the airlines.
Other facilities: Child care rooms are available in the terminal buildings. A medical service offering first aid and dealing with minor emergencies is also available.

There are no conference or business facilities at the airport.

Facilities are basic. The airport has wheelchairs available for use by physically disabled travellers. Airport staff are available to offer assistance.
