The first phase of the construction of an automated train system at the airport is scheduled for completion by 2013 and is anticipated to cost US$400-500 million. The system will be an integral part of the infrastructure at the airport and provide an important link to the regional transportation system.

Driving Directions
The airport has separate exits for east and west destinations, so travellers are advised to plan their route before departing. Major routes with airport exits are I-10 east, SR153 south of Washington, SR202 west and SR143 north.

There are parking spaces for 8,859 vehicles at the airpot. Short-term parking is available in multi-storey facilities at terminals 2, 3 and 4. Additional parking is available at the economy car parks, which are served by 24-hour shuttle buses running to all terminals. All rental car counters are located in the centre, which can be reached by taking the car rental shuttle from the airport curb at the baggage claim level.
