The airport is situated 5km (3 miles) south of Fort Lauderdale.

Current and recent expansions and improvements include opening of a new Rental Car Centre, and enhancements to parking facilities.

The terminals are within walking distance of each other; there is also a shuttle transfer service, which leaves from level 1 of the multi-storey car park.

The airport connects to the Florida Turnpike, I-95, I-595 and US Route 1. Take the State Road 84 or the I-595 and turn onto SW 29 Avenue for the Park N Save car park, or follow US Route 1 south to the airport Perimeter Road for the economy car park.

The garage complex provides covered parking with direct access to all terminals, with short- and long-term rates available. The Park N Save and Tower Lot are available for long-term parking; there are free shuttle buses to/from the terminals 24 hours daily. Valet parking is available in the garage complex (tel: (954) 359 6931). Long-term parking is also available at remote car parks linked to the terminals by free shuttle. Alamo, Avis, Budget, Continental, Dollar, Enterprise, E-Z Rent a Car, Hertz, National, Payless, Royal and Thrifty all have desks on site at the new Rental Car Center. The latter is well sign-posted from all terminals. It is located within walking distance from terminal 1, and there are free shuttles ferrying passengers from terminals 2, 3 and 4.

Road
Bus: Tri Rail feeder buses (tel: 1 800 874 7245; website: www.tri-rail.com) and BCT Mass Transit (tel: (954) 357 8400; website: www.broward.org/bct) operate daily services from bus shelters located at the west end of Terminal 1, east end of Terminal 2, between Terminals 3 and 4, and the east end of Terminal 4.
Taxi: Taxis and yellow cabs (tel: (954) 777 7777) are readily available, including wheelchair-accessible vans. Tri County Airport Express passenger sedans (tel: (954) 561 8888) provide a door-to-door service. Check with the Transportation Podium located on the lower level outside each terminal for both these services.

Help and information desks are located in each terminal on the upper and lower levels (tel: (954) 359 1200 for airport information).

Money and communications: These include ATMs and bureau de change facilities. Photocopying and fax facilities are available in Terminal 2. Free Wi-Fi access is available in all terminal and concourse areas.
Eating and drinking: Passengers can choose from a wide variety of restaurants, bars, cafés and snack bars at the airport.
Shopping: Duty-free is available in Terminal 4.
Luggage: A luggage transportation service is available on the upper and lower levels of each terminal and garage. There is an airport lost and found office (tel: (954) 359 1200).
Other facilities: These include shoe shine services and a mediation room.

The Hilton Garden Inn Fort Lauderdale (tel: (954) 924 9204; website: www.hiltongardeninn.com), located just minutes from the airport, has a 24-hour business centre as well as four meeting rooms and one board room for hire. The nearby Sheraton Fort Lauderdale Airport Hotel (tel: (954) 920 3500; website: www.starwoodhotels.com) also offers business and conference facilities, with 16 meeting rooms equipped with high-speed Internet access, available to hire.

All terminals have facilities for disabled travellers. These include disabled toilets, courtesy telephones with TTY facilities, ramps and lifts. Disabled parking is available in all parking facilities, with wheelchair-accessible shuttles from the remote car parks.
