The airport is located 29km (18 miles) northwest of Moscow.

Construction of a third terminal is being planned. A new terminal building, Terminal C, has opened next to Terminal 1 and will accommodate all international passengers previously served by the old terminal building. A fast train system linking the airport to Moscow is expected to be completed in 2008.

Public buses, express buses, fixed-rate taxis and free airline shuttles are all available for transfer between Sheremetyevo’s two terminals (journey time - 15 minutes).

The main road leading to the airport is Leningradskoe Hwy, which flows into the M10 motorway from Moscow.

Short-term parking facilities are available close to both terminals.

Companies include Avis, Dollar, Hertz, Mosrentservice and Sixt.

Rail: A line links Moscow Savyolovsky Station with Lobnya Station, from where shuttles offer a transfer to the airport (journey time - 20 minutes). A rapid transit system linking the airport to Moscow is expected to be completed in 2008.
Road: Bus: Regular express buses run 24 hours a day to Moscow from bus stops outside Terminal 1 and a bus station on the Arrivals level of Terminal 2. Local bus 851 goes to metro Rechnoi Vokzal and bus 817 goes to metro Planernaya.
Coach: Coaches run between the airport and Moscow Central Air Terminal, which is located between Dinamo and Aeroport metro stations.
Taxi: Taxis to Moscow are available 24 hours a day from the Arrivals level of Terminal 2 and from outside Terminal 1; passengers should join the taxi queue for fixed-rate taxis rather than accepting offers.

Information desks are located in the main halls and provide flight information (tel: (495) 232 6565) and information about the airport and about transport to the city. Intourist representatives are available in Terminal 2 and can provide tourist information (tel: (095) 578 5971).

Money and communications: The airport offers banking and bureaux de change, and ATMs are available in Terminal 2 in both the Arrivals and Departures areas. Aerosot provides fax services, international telephones and photocopying. There are post offices in both terminals.
Eating and drinking: There are restaurants and bars in both terminals.
Shopping: Shops are available in both terminals and include duty-free in both Departures and Arrivals.
Luggage: Trolleys can be hired in the Arrivals hall of Terminal 2. A porter service is available. Left-luggage counters are located in Terminal 2.
Other facilities: The airport has a hairdresser, pharmacy, medical office and baby care facilities. There are travel agencies in both terminals.

The airport has a business centre in Terminal 2 which can provide telephone, fax and conference facilities. The Novotel Moscow Sheremetyevo Airport (tel: (495) 626 5900; website: www.accorhotels.com) has nine meeting rooms and offers fax and copy services as well as Internet access.

The airport does not offer many facilities for the disabled traveller, although wheelchair transfer from the aircraft to the terminal building can be arranged in advance; passengers requiring wheelchairs and special assistance should inform their airline prior to travel.
